The History of The PilotCruisersThe rugged pilot boats that serve our great harbours inspire the designs for the PilotCruiser™ series of motor yachts. The 49 is ideally suited for two couples, again with the ability to sleep additional guests. The larger size allows a bit more flexibility for custom layouts. The standard layout has the owners' cabin forward, with a private head and shared shower immediately aft to starboard.
Aft to port is the double guest cabin, with its own head just across the passageway. This head is easily accessible to all aboard. Aft of the guest cabin on the port side is the galley, with a peninsula/breakfast bar inboard, which can also house a combination washer/dryer unit. A trash compactor may also be included. The comfortable lower salon and office are to starboard.
Aft of the salon/galley is a small service room, with the large fuel tanks outboard P&S. This service room will allow the maintenance of those items which would require periodic attention, without having to deal with a hot engine room.
The topside salon is just aft the helm/nav, and includes an L-shaped settee with coffee/dining table, a couple of comfortable easy chairs to port, and a wet bar with a beverage dispenser on the counter housing the icemaker. A wet locker is located just abaft of the jumpseat. A Stidd, series 1200 adjustable double helm seat, ensures comfort and control at the helm.
In the 49 is powered by a pair of Yanmar 6LYA (315-420hp) diesel engines. Also in the engine room will be a pair of Panda or similar gensets, a primary, and a smaller backup. Here again, the rudder/jet room aft of the engine room will provide ample storage, as well as easy servicing access.
